Attention Members - Chamber Business You Need to Know About

The annual board election for four new director terms will be held in October. The requirements for serving on the Board for a three year term are having a Regular Chamber membership (instead of an Associate membership) and being able to attend board meetings, which are currently being held at noon the first Friday of each month. Directors should also be available to attend some of the Chamber activities that are scheduled throughout the year. If you are interested in possibly serving on the board or if you have questions please contact one of the following nomination committee members by September 30. Kathy Smith, 837-4344, Raymond McLanahan, 837-2800, Doug Furnell, 837-4300 or Patsy Bortner at 837-2826. Election ballots will be mailed out to the Chamber membership. Come on you can do it ! We have some great members that would be an asset to the Chamber Board while having the opportunity for extra networking and keeping up on Louisburg news.

Reinvest in your business and the Chamber—Membership Renewals will be due November 1. Notices will be mailed to members early in October.  There is no increase in your investment amount. It has been ten years since the Chamber has increased dues.

Great Fun and Promotion Opportunity— This year’s annual dinner will be on Thursday, Nov. 12, at Timbercreek Event Center. Members will receive an invitation in October. Reservations with payment will be required before the event. Corporate sponsorships and table-top sponsors will be available. It’s always fun to see the ideas and creativity that go in to decorating a table-top to promote your business.

Promotional bags from Chamber members are needed at the Chamber office and will be put to good use promoting your business wherever that bag ends up!

Welcome packets, various information distributed from the Chamber office, contents that are taken to meetings etc… It’s another location for your business name to be advertised and is also helpful to the Chamber. Contact Patsy at the office or just bring a small supply by Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and Noon. Size needed is 12” x 15” and a bottom pleat is helpful.

Welcome Packets, which include information and promo items from Chamber businesses, are an easy way to get the word out about your business or organization.

Thanks goes to Chamber volunteers and Lion Club members, Marilyn Tesh and Judy Maddox for helping distribute the packets to new Louisburg residents. They are doing a great job. Be sure and keep promotional material at the Chamber office so your business will be included.

Weatherization Funding for improvements to homes to improve their weatherization has literally tripled for the next three years. Home improvement contractors along with firms that install insulation, repair and
replace HVAC units and windows, are prime contractors for this work. In Miami County, the agency handling those contracts is ECKAN. Alex Thompson is their coordinator. Vendors wanting to be approved for this work should call Alex at (888) 833-0832.  While funding is currently available for this program, the
program is expected to change slightly this fall. The new guidelines created by the stimulus funds will actually allow more persons and more uses to become eligible for funding.  By Janet McRae

Join Personable Pets 1st Annual Dog Safety Fair on Sunday, Oct 11th from 1-4 pm the Tails R Waggin Doggy Daycare in Overland Park, KS
According to the CDC, the rate of dog bite related injuries to children is highest for those ages 5 to 9 years, and children are more likely than adults to receive medical attention for dog bites.    Among adults, males are more likely than females to be bitten.  Having a dog in the household is associated with a higher incidence of dog bites. As the number of dogs in the home increases, so does the potential for dog bites..  Adults with two or more dogs in the household are five times more likely to be bitten than those living without dogs at home.
Most dog bites can be prevented. Attend the Dog Safety Fair to learn ways to stay safer around both unfamiliar and household dogs..  This free, hands-on interactive fair is designed for kids 4+ years of age and parents of all ages.  Spin the Wheel of Dog Talk or take on the challenging Which One Can I Pet? Cubes as you learn more about dog 'talk' and common safety tips.    This event is for humans only - please leave your pet at home.  Visit www.personablepets.com for more info or follow Personable Pets on Facebook for an up to date listing of all planned events.
